"My experience being apart the first Wander Abroad cohort was absolutely amazing! I attend a small HBCU in the suburbs of Maryland. As an HBCU student I have not been presented with many opportunities to study abroad. Wander Abroad was the perfect opportunity for me to experience a short term international education. This was my first time outside of the country and it’s definitely a memory I will have forever. I met so many wonderful people from all over the world . This was a great way for me to experience a different culture, language and educational system. Overall my experience with Wander Abroad was life changing! I learned so much about myself and others. "This week I had the privilege of attending the Wander Abroad Scholarship Program. This program was not the first time out of the country for me like it was for others, but it was the chance to meet incredible new people and experience a new culture I had limited knowledge of beforehand. Throughout the week, I stayed with a host family, interacted with drivers and school staff, met four other girls and became acquainted with countless others. What I can say for sure after this week is that I have met people who have changed my life and the way I think and I will never forget this opportunity. "

“A lot can happen in a week. You can make lifelong friendships with people worldwide, enhance your Spanish fluency in and outside the classroom, volunteer at an animal rescue center, and much more. I am inspired by my fellow cohort and grateful that the Wander Abroad Scholarship exists for us. "Being part of the Wander Abroad second cohort has been a life changing experience! I had the opportunity to immerse myself in Costa Rican culture by staying with a host family, enhancing my Spanish by attending classes at the Costa Rican Language Academy and taking part in various activities every day. My favorite part of the day was always waking up and having a delicious breakfast with my host family. We would then rush out the door into the microbus to start the adventurous day with five brilliant young ladies that are now long lasting friends."

"My time in Costa Rica with the Wander Abroad cohort is something I'll remember for the rest of my life! I met so many amazing people who I learned a lot from and became inspired by, and I made many new friendships with my wonderful cohort members as well. My host family was greater than I could have ever imagined. They were all so kind and accommodating and they helped me learn so much about Costa Rican culture and their many delicious traditional dishes. At the Costa Rican Language Academy, I finally learned how to use Spanish accent marks correctly, and my teacher was the loveliest ever! All of my numerous experiences in Costa Rica have been life-changing and I am so grateful because none of them would've been possible without the Wander Abroad Foundation!"
