What can I expect to do/learn in one week?

Will I be traveling alone or with a group? Will there be a chaperone?

You will be traveling with other accepted students, program coordinators from the Wander Abroad organization, and a Costa Rican tour guide.

When can I apply for THIS PROGRAM?

Applications FOR our 4th COHORT will be open from April 1, 2023-August 15, 2023 .

The program will take place March 16-March 23, 2024.

How much is the application fee?

The application fee is just $40 and must be made at the time of application. (Simply press the donate button and submit $40). Please make sure you include your First and Last name so we can verify your donation.

The application fee is to show to the organization that you are a serious applicant. 

*Everyone who applies and donates will receive a Tax Donation Receipt*

I am not applying for a scholarship. Can i still apply to be a part of the cohort?

Yes!  We know that money is not the only barrier to studying abroad. Having a supportive community is just as important. Please notate on your application that you are applying for the program but NOT the scholarship. Students who do not need the scholarship will not be required to submit a transcript or letter of recommendation.

Do I need to have a specific major to apply for this program?

No, all majors are welcomed to apply.

Do I have to attend a particular university?

No, if you are a student at any accredited 2 or 4 year college/university, you may apply!

Do I qualify for the Wander Abroad Program?

If you have higher than a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

If you are enrolled in a 2 or 4 year program as a sophomore, junior, or senior.

If you have no felonies.

If you are a US Citizen.

Then you are eligible to apply for the scholarship!

Can I apply as a college freshman?

Sorry, but you may only apply as a college sophomore, junior, or  senior. (you must be 18 years old or older)

What if the dates do not align with my University/College Spring Break dates?

You will find out if you are accepted into the cohort no later than October 15, 2023. This should give you ample time (5 months) to inform your professors of your acceptance into the Spring 2024 cohort. We will provide you with an acceptance letter that you may submit to your university/College for an excused absence, if necessary. 

Will I need my own spending money?

Yes! We cover the cost of your program (accommodations included), round-trip flight and travel insurance. You are responsible for food, souvenirs, TIPS, etc. On average, students spend a total of $450 usd for tips, food, souvenirs, etc.

How many students will be chosen?

for our 2024 cohort, we will accept a max of 8 students.
